UPDATE: As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday 9/15/22 Custer Gallatin National Forest personnel working in part with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (Region 3) have reopened the area. Today's thorough search of the area found no sign of a bear incident in the area and no sign of a wounded grizzly. Thank you for heeding precautions while game wardens and personnel investigated area. The area is now open again.

CLOSURE - A temporary closure is in place this morning for the South ...Rock Creek Road #993 - just west of Carbella and north of the Tom Miner Basin area - on the Yellowstone Ranger District, Paradise Valley. This closure includes the Donahue Trail #183.
The closure in in effect for public safety as Custer Gallatin National Forest personnel work with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (Region 3) game wardens to locate a potentially wounded grizzly bear in the area. Please steer clear and if your plans involve this area, find another location to enjoy public lands.
