Kindness wins again!
This is John Joyce.
He’s 83 years old.
And he earns his living cutting people’s lawns.
But the story here really centers around that new black truck in the 2nd picture and how John ended up in the driver's seat.
And I think when you hear the details it will make your night.
I’ll get to that in a moment.
But first a little about John.
A couple of months ago the transmission in his old truck went out and his engine block was damaged beyond repair.
But John still had to go to work.
So now look at the 3rd picture.
John literally had to push his lawn mower down the street several miles a day to get to his customer’s homes.
Can you imagine?
And remember he's 83.
Two of his customers were Robert and Nikki Norton.
That’s them in the 4th picture.
They first met John 8 years ago.
Robert says:
“He was mowing a yard down the road from my house and I asked him how much he would charge.
When I returned home, my yard was cut.
For 8 years John has been cutting our grass and he only asks for $20.
We always give him more."
When Robert and Nikki found out that John's truck had broken down, they knew they had to do something.
Robert says:
“John is a hard-working man living on a fixed income and struggling to earn an honest living.
At 83 he is still working!
He is one of the kindest people Nikki and I have ever met and we need to help him.”
So John and Nikki set up a GoFundMe page.
348 people donated $13,000 dollars for John.
Now here's where the black truck comes in.
Earlier this week, Robert and Nikki took John to a used car dealer in Florida and handed him the keys to his new truck.
They also paid for his insurance.
And they gave him a new lawn mower and money for gas.
Is that awesome or what!
John was very emotional.
People Magazine spoke to him exclusively.
He told them simply:
"It was wonderful, really wonderful."
Kindness wins again.
