While on patrol this evening Officer Arciello noticed what appeared to be an injured owl very close to the side of the roadway. Upon closer inspection, it appeared that the owl was struck by a passing car. With the assistance of Officer Palmer and instructions from a wildlife rehabilitation center the owl was taken out of harms way and will be turned over to the facility in the morning. We are hoping that the owl will make a full recovery.

UPDATE: the injured owl was turned over to a Veterinarian and Wildlife Rehab Professionals this morning and they say the juvenile bird is strong and they are optimistic about it's recovery. Added photo: Officer Seyfarth delivering the owl to the Animal Hospital.
