Man Arrested For Trafficking In Heroin

On Saturday shortly after 6 p.m., Trooper Christopher Ryan, who is assigned to State Police-Newbury, was on patrol when observed a Ford pickup fail to yield when it pulled out of a parking lot in front of him on Lowell Ave in Haverhill. Trooper Ryan stopped the pickup after it pulled onto Route 495 North access ramp.

The driver provided a valid license and was cited at the conclusion of the stop for motor vehicle violations.

The passenger, later identified as HECTOR ROMAN, a 35-year-old Lawrence man, was not wearing a seat belt. ROMAN initially provided the name of Fernando Morales but was unsure of his birth year. The information he provided did not match with registry records however a close match revealed a person with a criminal history. Trooper Ryan had ROMAN exit the vehicle and was searched for weapons. During the search a baseball sized bag of heroin was recovered.

ROMAN was placed under arrest for the heroin. He then provided his real identity.

ROMAN was booked at the Newbury Barracks. Roman had several warrants for his arrest. ROMAN was held without bail. He was transported to the Middleton House of Correction

• Trafficking in Heroin
• Warrant out of Lawrence District Court
• Warrant out of Lawrence District Court
• Warrant out of Woburn District Court
• Warrant out of Cumberland County, Maine
