The Hon. Pat Conroy, Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific with delegation visited SPREP today meeting with Director General Mr Sefanaia Nawadra, Deputy Director General Easter Chu Shing, and the Secretariat’s senior leadership team. Also present was the Hon. Toeolesulusulu Cedric Schuster, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the Government of Samoa. The visit included a brief presentation on SPREP at the Pacific Climate Change Centre, a tour of the campus and the cutting of the birthday cake marking the 30th Anniversary of the SPREP Treaty.

The Australian delegation included Australian High Commissioner HE. Emily Luck, Acting Chief of Staff Ms Bianca Birdsall, Assistant Secretary for DFAT Ms Kirsty McNeil, and other officials from both Apia and Canberra.

In the year of the 30th anniversary of the SPREP Treaty, the visit highlighted Australia’s ongoing support for SPREP as a founding member and long-term partner, and one of the largest providers of direct bilateral core budget support to the Secretariat.
