New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Honourable Nanaia Mahuta and British High Commissioner to Samoa, His Excellency David Ward, representing Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, who unfortunately had to cut short his Pacific visit because of urgent priorities in London, so was unable to attend, visited the Pacific Climate Change Centre (PCCC) today, celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).

SPREP was delighted to host the Minister from New Zealand during her visit to Samoa. Climate change has been declared by Pacific Island Leaders as the single greatest existential threat facing the Blue Pacific. The Minister and High Commissioner took the opportunity to sit down with leaders from SPREP and meet the staff who work at SPREP and the PCCC, highlighting the importance of the work of the Secretariat and the PCCC, and their role in supporting our Pacific Islands to protect and manage the environment and natural resources of the Pacific.
