Every year on May 18, the Museum of Samoa celebrates International Museum Day as part of its annual event and promotional activity. The theme for this year is “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being/ Falemata’aga, Gafataulimaina ma Soifua Manuia”.

This year SPREP was honoured to be invited to take part in this celebration to commemorate the importance of Museum Day in Samoa, the Pacific region and around the world. This particular event was an opportunity for all museums in Samoa to raise awareness in the value of the work they serve to educate, promote and safeguard the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Samoa through various collections or cultural materials that each museums holds.

As SPREP is celebrating its 30 anniversary this year, this was an amiable time to inform people of the history of SPREP those who paved the way.
