This afternoon at 3:54pm in Lake Stevens, a vehicle traveling northbound on 103rd Ave SE and 32nd St SE at a high rate a speed flew off the roadway and flipped into sticker bushes. The driver missed a light pole by a few feet. They were able to crawl out on their own power to SRFR medics. The driver sustained only minor injuries.
At the time of the roll over, students at Glenwood Elementary were being released a half mile north in the direction the rollover vehicle was travel...ing. The speed limit on 103rd Ave SE is 30 MPH and 20 MPH in the school zone when kids are when present. The crash caused school busses to get stuck in traffic as the road was blocked with emergency personnel.
Ironically, SRFR public educators were at Cavelero Mid High School today teaching 9th grade students the Teen Impact Drivers lesson. They learned about not driving distracted and the consequences of unsafe driving.
We are happy no one was seriously hurt and ask all drivers to drive safe year round. This could have been much worse a half mile down the road or if the driver hit the light pole.
