منطقِ اینكه حجاب اجباري "مسئله داخلی است" از اساس فریبکارانه است و خوب
است که زیر سوال برود. این یک مسئلهء داخلی ست و نباید در خارج از ایران مطرح شود؟ کجا باید مطرح شود؟ آیا در داخل کشور اجازهء اعتراض و فعالیت بر علیه حجاب اجباری وجود دارد؟ آیا اگر کسانی علیه حجاب اجباری فعالیت کنند امنیتشان به خطر نمیفتد؟ دستگیر نمی شوند؟ زندانی نمی شوند؟ آیا اصولا هر ظلمی که در درون یک فضای بسته اتفاق میفتد تنها به دلیل این که در درون یک مرز اتفاق میف...تد نباید بیرون از آن مرز مطرح شود؟ این منطق صدای معترض را خفه تر و قدرت ظالم را بیشتر می کند. زمانی که "اعتراض" به حجاب اجباری و "مطالبه"ء حق انتخاب پوشش در داخل کشور یک "جرم" محسوب میشود چطور می توان از مطرح کردن آن در خارج از مرزها ایراد گرفت؟ کسانی که این ایراد را می گیرند اول شرایط امن حق اعتراض و مطالبه را در درون کشور مهیا کنند بعد ادعا کنند.

The rationale that the veil is a domestic issue is actually quite dishonest and should be questioned. Is it really a domestic matter that should not be raised outside of Iran? If so, then, where exactly should it be raised [given the very restrictions limiting the discussion around the veil inside Iran]? Do we really enjoy the luxury of having the permission to oppose and to campaign against the compulsory veil inside Iran? Don’t we all know that if anyone dared to campaign against the compulsory veil, her/his security would be immediately endangered? Wouldn’t these people be arrested? Wouldn’t they be imprisoned? In principle, repression taking place in a very closed atmosphere is precisely attributable [,amongst others,] to the fact that the country itself is too closed to the rest of the world. Then, in such repressive settings, shouldn’t we at least campaign against repression from outside of the country? This mindset [that this is a domestic issue and that we should not raise it from outside of Iran] only serves to weaken the voice of dissenters and strengthen those who resort to repression. As long as protesting against the compulsory veil and demanding freedom of choice remain “crimes” within the country, how can some people be offended by the idea of raising these issues from outside of Iran? Those who think so had better verify the [bleak] state of right to protest and right to make demands within the country before making such assertions.

L'argument prétendant que le voile est un problème interne au pays est de fait assez malhonnête et doit être remis en question. Est-ce vraiment un problème national ne pouvant pas être évoqué hors d'Iran ? Si oui, alors, où exactement devrait-on l'évoquer [compte tenu des restrictions drastiques en Iran autour de toute discussion sur le voile] ? Jouissons-nous vraiment du luxe d'une permission de contester et de faire campagne contre le voile obligatoire en Iran ? Ne savons-nous pas tous que quiconque osant faire campagne contre le voile obligatoire en voit sa propre sécurité immédiatement compromise ? N'en serait-on pas arrêté ? mis en prison ? En général, toute répression à huis-clos découle précisément du fait que le pays lui-même est trop fermé au reste du monde [entre autres]. Alors, dans un contexte aussi répressif, ne devrions-nous pas faire campagne contre cette répression au moins depuis l'extérieur du pays ? Cet état d'esprit [prétendant qu'il s'agit d'un problème national qu'on ne devrait évoquer qu'en Iran] n'a pas d'autre objectif que d'affaiblir la parole contestataire et renforcer ceux qui la répriment. Aussi longtemps que, dans le pays, contester le voile obligatoire et exiger la liberté de pouvoir le choisir restent des «crimes», comment certains pourraient-ils être offensés à l'idée qu'on puisse évoquer le problème hors d'Iran ? Ceux qui pensent ainsi feraient mieux de regarder le [sinistre] état des droits de protester et de revendiquer dans le pays avant d'avancer de tels propos.
