CW: police violence
We found out that UVA is housing hundreds of state police at student dorms. This only reaffirms UVA's complicity with state-sanctioned violence. These are the same forces who teargassed us last year on July 8th and protected white supremacists August 11&12. Tell UVA Housing & Residence Life *now* that it's unacceptable and unnecessary for them to house state troopers, especially without informing the student body.
FYI, the police are being housed at Lambet...h Field Apartments just off Emmet St.
It was also just announced that Governor Northam and Charlottesville City have declared a state of emergency here and outside of DC in advance of the anniversary weekend. All of this adds up police overcompensation, NOT a solution or true accountability for what happened last summer.
