Wciaż niedowierzam. Białe noce nominowane są do Nagrody Bookera. Książkę wydało małe (dwuosobowe!) niezależne wydawnictwo MTO Press, a White Nights to ich pierwsza publikacja. W listopadzie, gdy miałam zagraniczną trasę, woziliśmy książki na spotkania w ogromnej walizce. Nie mamy bowiem szerokiej dystrybucji. Podróżowaliśmy pociągami i często trzeba było się szybko przesiadać. Ricardo Torres, wydawca, taszczył wszystko własnymi siłami. ...
Ta nominacja wskazuje, że liczy się literatura. Nic więcej. Jestem wzruszona i wdzięczna.

My dears!
I can’t quite believe it. White Nights (Białe noce) has been longlisted for the International Booker Prize. It was published by a small (two-person!), independent publishing house, MTO Press – and it was their first book. Back in November, on the UK book tour, we were turning up to meetings with copies of the book in a huge suitcase; it hasn’t been widely distributed. We were travelling by rail and often had to change trains at the last minute. Ricardo Torres, the publisher, was lugging everything around under his own steam.
This nomination shows that literature is what matters. As simple as that. I am thrilled and grateful.
