We urge you to write to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) - https://www.ebu.ch/about/contact-us -
and urge them to expel the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, an institution deeply complicit in Israel's oppression of the Palestinian people.

The Eurovision Song Context is held among members of the EBU. Israel's expulsion would effectively end its participation in the competition.

We call for the campaign to continue for as long as Israel continues to violate international law with impunity. In particular we condemn Israel's systematic attacks against Palestinian journalists and artists who are routinely denied their basic human rights and the freedom of movement.

Background:

- The Israeli contestant Netta Barzilai will participate in representation of the Israeli state, as such she is part of the efforts to "rebrand" Israel internationally
- Palestinians have called for a cultural boycott of artists that take on the role of cultural ambassadors for the state.
- Barzilai served in the Israeli navy in 2014. She sang “My Sailor is My Angel” to navy members, who took part later that year in the "Protective Edge" massacre in Gaza: On the afternoon of July 16, 2014, four children were playing on the sands of a Gaza beach: Ahed Bakr, aged 10, Zakaria, 10, and two other boys from the Bakr family, both named Mohammad, aged 11 and nine. - The gunboat crews whom Netta Barzilai sent off with her songs played a part in the Gaza carnage.

Israel's Eurovision entry called “Toy”, which is all about women’s empowerment and social justice, does not address the Israeli navy's massacres in Gaza. Nor does it seek to empower the women of the Gaza open-air prison.

The Israeli song is widely promoted on the net, in a massive propaganda campaign very generously funded by the Israeli government. Netnayahu and his ministers and generals would like nothing better than for Netta Barzilai to win the Eurovision contest.
