It's usually a happy story post here on social media for us, but today, not so much. Today, Lily and her kindergarten friends found some needles left behind by drug users in our schoolyard. Lily + 2 friends sustained puncture wounds in their hands from the needles. We spent the day at the hospital with many tests and many tears 😭 Lily received a transfusion to protect her from potential hep B infection, and started an intensive HIV prophylaxis treatment that will likely make her sick for 28 days. This message is not intended to gain sympathy for us, but rather a plea to talk to your children about the dangers of touching needles... no matter how young they are.
