As I said in my initial statement, I am heartsick and deeply disturbed by what happened last night. I have been working on behalf of all of you all night and all day and I will continue to do so. I share your questions and concerns and continue to seek answers from the BCA - the lead investigators of this incident.

Today my time has been spent in three principal ways. First, by getting and sharing as much information as I can about the circumstances of last night’s shooting.... The BCA has been the investigator from the start, so there isn’t much information I have or will have beyond what’s been made public. I am doing my part to spread that information as quickly and transparently as possible.

Second: MPD Assistant Chief Medaria Arradondo, my team and I have been calling community stakeholders, elected leaders, faith leaders, neighbors, and people deeply involved in policing issues - both to share information as we get it, and to gather their questions. We will keep those lines of communication open throughout today and beyond.

Third, I have spent a great deal of time with the internal city team - including Assistant Chief Arradondo, City Attorney Susan Segal, and City Coordinator Spencer Cronk - making sure we are all on the same page on our roles as the investigation proceeds.

I will do everything I can to keep everyone - you included - as informed as possible. I’m seeking answers to the questions we all have, and will make sure to keep the communication flowing. More to come.
