PLEASE SHARE: Almost 35 years later, my family and I are hoping to find the Air Canada flight attendant who opened her heart and home to my mom and brother on the night they immigrated to Canada and found themselves lost in the wrong city. It was November 1984, dad had already been in Montreal, Canada for a year when the papers finally came through to allow mom and Michael (age 4 at the time) to immigrate. Neither spoke a word of English, neither had ever been on a plane, bot...h were anxious and scared. Back in the day, planes would land at one destination, pick up and drop off passengers, then carry onto the next destination. Mom and Michael were trying to make it to Montreal (where Dad was eagerly waiting), but when the plane made an initial stop in Toronto, they followed the crowd, got off the plane, and found themselves in the wrong city with no English, no money, and no one to call. After some sorting out with a patient Air Canada flight attendant, they were both booked on a flight out to Montreal the next morning. That same flight attendant took Mom and Michael in for the night, and made sure they returned safely to the airport the next morning. How truly generous, and how truly Canadian. We’re hoping this story will get shared so that we can find this woman and thank her from the bottom of our immigrant hearts. Here is a pic from Christmas 1984 where my family is reunited in the greatest country in the world thanks to the kindness of a stranger.
