Розпочався мій перший, як Предстоятеля Православної Церкви України, візит до Сполучених Штатів Америки. Дякую Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate в Америці за запрошення та гостинний прийом. Разом з делегацією нашої Церкви прилетіли в місто Нью-Йорк, де розпочали свої відвідини з особливого місця — храму на честь святого Миколая Американської Архієпископії Вселенського Патріархату, який розташований на території Всесвітнього торгового цен...тру в Манхеттені.
На сьогодні храм ще перебуває у стані будівництва. Попередній однойменний храм був зруйнований внаслідок жахливого теракту 11 вересня 2001 року, коли Південна та Північна вежі Всесвітнього торгового центру зазнали нападу терористів. Ця церква — єдина будівля, яка не була частиною оригінального комплексу Всесвітнього торгового центру і яка була повністю знищена в результаті атак. Хоч попереду ще багато роботи, але храм вже нагадує Собор Святої Софії Константинопольської, яким і надихався архітектор проекту Сантьяго Калатрава.
Розташована у парку Свободи з виглядом на Національний меморіал та музей 11 вересня, церква святого Миколая наче є вікном у вічність, куди полинули ті, хто тут невинно й несправедливо загинув. Посеред одного з найпотужніших та найдинамічніших міст у світі храм є благодатним пристанком для зміцнення духу та щирої молитви за жертвами теракту — офіційно встановлено, що загинули понад 3 000 людей, серед них 12 українців. Імена загиблих увіковічені в пам’яті цілої країни та вписані на меморіальних дошках скорботи, які виставлені на Нижньому Манхеттені.
Спільно з усією нашою делегацією відвідали меморіальний комплекс та музей, які присвячені жертвам трагедії 11 вересня. Вічна пам’ять!

Today was the first day of my visit to the United States of America as the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. I would like to thank Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America for the invitation and a warm welcome. Together with the delegation of our Church we arrived to the City of New York and began our visit with a trip to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at the World Trade Center in Manhattan.
As of today, the shrine is still under construction. Former building of the shrine was destroyed by that terrible terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 when the South Tower and the North Tower of the World Trade Center were attacked by the terrorists. This church was the only building that was not a part of the original World Trade Center and was completely destroyed as the result of the attacks. Even though there is much more work needed to be done with the shrine, it already looks like the Saint Sophia of Constantinople Cathedral, the inspiration of Santiago Calatrava, the architect of the project.
The shrine is located in the Liberty Park. By overlooking the 9/11 Memorial Museum and St. Nicholas Church, it serves as a window into eternity for those innocent people who died here. In the middle of one of the most powerful and dynamic cities in the world, the shrine stands as a blessing haven for strengthening the spirit and sincere prayer for the victims of the terrorist attack. The official number of the deceased as the result of the terrorist attack is more than 3,000 people, 12 of which were Ukrainians. The names of the deceased were immortalized in the memory of the whole country and engraved on bereavement plaques displayed in the Lower Manhattan.
Together with our delegation we visited the memorial complex and the museum dedicated to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. Memory eternal!
