...so I've had an interesting week.

Haven't been particularly vocal on the US gun debate until now. Couldn't get to sleep the other night so was watching tv news and Facebook posts about the Vegas shooting event. Lots of thoughts & prayers but no tangible solutions.

I've got one, how about we get rid of our guns, eh?

...

Next morning called PHX PD and had them send an officer to my house.

Took some quick photos and put together a nice little Facebook post.

It blew up !

I did 4 TV & 2 local paper interviews the next day.

At 2000+ shares I reluctantly deleted the post because people started posting my address online & threatening my family.

I received several hundred messages, emails & texts. Some very lovely and supportive. Most were mean. Very few offered any alternative solutions to the problem.

Took the family out of town to escape the heat (in every sense). Did couple of Skype interviews Erdogan style.

I'm not sure what happens now. I don't feel quite at home here as I have over the last decade.

Gun Day+3 (upon reflection)

During our lives, I believe it is important to keep an open mind. You never know what will happen tomorrow.

Two days ago I went on Phoenix Fox 10 news and expressed my belief that citizens should not have guns. This in hindsight was a mistake. It was not my intention to offend anyone. I shall continue the conversation with my gun owning friends.

I made a decision to hand over my guns. It is my personal opinion and it is my right.

Many of the negative comments I received mentioned the 'bad guys'. I ask you, if you are the person sending me threatening and hateful messages simply for expressing my 1st Amendment rights, perhaps it is you who is the bad guy?

I still believe the Las Vegas shooting event could have been avoided. I also believe that future events can be avoided with common sense gun controls. I am not an expert in firearms. I shall leave the details to our elected politicians.

Haters can hate. But I still believe that love trumps hate.

I hope this offers some closure to my rollercoaster ride.
