At the Wharton Center gift shop they are hanging prominent black figures from trees. #MSU what a way to honor Black History!

*******This is was not art display... this was a product brought by Michigan State University and sold at a gift shop and displayed by staff on trees... it’s just that simple!******

**Update: My intention posting these images was to vent and highlight the continuous acts of microaggressions I’ve experienced as a Black student at MSU. The symbolisms in ...these photos explains itself. I don’t care about the artist intent nor the Wharton Center for Performing Arts gift shop intent, it’s the impact of it and the culmination of all the culturally insensitive events that has happened at MSU.

These images evoke a visceral experience... trauma lives in the body.

Enough is enough!

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION***!!Please share the link to your page!!***

The displays of cultural insensitivity are an indicator of the racial intolerance at Michigan State Spartans which is ingrained in the systems and the institution of the university. Please take a stand with me and demand President Stanley to take a stand against this rapidly spreading culture of racial intolerance!

If you are concerned about the mental health of people of color at Michigan State University , please keep the conversation going and demand that President Stanley take a stand against racial intolerance. The plan MSU put forth lacks accountability measures and incentives to ensure compliance. More transparency is needed, as well as increased visibility of existing supports and enhanced linkage of supports to students. In addition, there is a need for more institutional support for people of color on campus with specific needs for graduate students. CALL #MSU (517) 355-1855or EMAIL @ PresidentStanley@msu.edu and share your concerns.
