Lacus Mortis - this is the place of landing of the ICAres-2 M01 crew 🚀

Despite its name, “Lake of Death” is a peaceful plain of basaltic lava flows in the northeastern part of the Moon's near side. The name dates back to 1651 when Giovanni Riccioli described it in the “Almagestum Novum” 🌕

Our crew managed to land safely and start their mission without any problems. But as winter is coming on Earth and the evenings are longer, they have started sharing some stories and facts a...bout themselves 🤩

The crew members were born in five different countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the USA, Portugal, and Poland, but half of the crew arrived in the Lunares from the USA. Without counting programming languages, they also speak fluently eight different languages: Czech, Slovak, Polish, Portuguese, English, French, Italian, and American Sign Language 🌍

The team is extremely prepared for the mission, as they collectively hold graduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Planetary science, Geology, Mining Geology, Astrophysics, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Economics, Social and Organizational Psychology 👨‍🎓

But not only science is important - the crew members can play piano, horn, and African drums, and are learning kalimba. They can also sing, dance, and draw, like the true STEAMers! 🎵

It’s also an unusual mission, because the Commander led over 30 analog missions, while for the rest of the crew, it’s the first analog experience 👨‍🚀

ICAres-2 M01 crew - we’re really glad to have you onboard! 😁
