Deeply saddened at the passing of my friend, artist, and novelist Lora Johnson. Star Trek fans know her as the author of Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise and Worlds of the Federation, as well as several Star Trek and Star Wars technical journals for Starlog. Born as Shane Johnson, Lora was a legend in the Star Trek community, particularly those of us who are fascinated with the technical details of the Enterprise. She recently served as a technical consultant to the Gene R…oddenberry Archive, advising us on the deck layout of the refit Enterprise for the Archive's digital artists.
Lora Johnson died on August 8, 2024. She was 64 years old.

One more thing. While I mentioned Lora's birth name so that fans who didn't know her would understand why her passing is of significance to the Star Trek community, my trans friends remind me that she would have greatly preferred to no longer be referred to by that name. So, out of respect to our friend, I encourage you to refer to her as "Lora."
