Mundubilianos, we've been silent for too long!
In fact, we brought you little news since the great joy of reaching the goal of the crowdfunding campaign.
What followed that was a bunch of bureaucratic problems which we did not imagine would be so lengthy. When we planned the crowdfunding campaign we realized that we would have to create a nonprofit organization in order to issue receipts for the donation requests, so we have included this possibility in the campaign budget. ...Due to the size and objectives of the project, we never considered it necessary to create an official organization, but this scenario turned out to be a legal inevitability. Thus, after the end of the campaign, we created the non-profit organization MUNDUBILA - ASSOCIACAO (514747048). In order to fulfill the legal requirements, it would be enough to nominate the members of the association and create the respective minutes, to open a bank account for the association and, finally, to declare our activity in the tax office. However, through these steps, it was necessary to find a bank that did not charge a monthly fee for the non-profit association account, more minutes, more documents, contacts with Social Security, contradictory information... In the end we still managed to make a mistake while filling out a declaration of activities and we ended up being fined for it.
We believe that these adversities are common to most projects (and even make us stronger), but we also have our share of the blame as we should have prepared this scenario better. We were overly optimistic.
The months went by, and we ended up failing with you, not giving you news, and, above all, with the children and teachers of the Boa Entrada Elementary School, that deserve our greatest effort and dedication! We do not want to waste any more time on these obstacles and it's time to focus 100% on the project to try to make up for the lost time.
Fortunately, during these months two donations of school supplies arrived to the school. The first time by the hand of our friend Raquel Pina who collected material from her friends and, on the second, Cláudia Caetano and her mother carried in the luggage books (among which children's stories, novels, encyclopedias, work sheets) that you also helped us collect to create a library in this our dear school!
Thank you for your support!
