Today, the Government of Niue and the United States of America officially established diplomatic relations, marking a significant milestone in Niue’s international engagement during the 2nd U.S.- Pacific Islands Forum Summit currently being held at the White House in Washington, D.C. from 25-26 September 2023.
The Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi and the U.S Secretary of State, Antony Blinken signed a joint communique stating that both... countries are committed to cooperating with each on various areas of mutual interest, including climate change, ocean stewardship, renewable energy, education, culture, maritime safety, sustainable development, and resilient economies.
Hon. Premier Dalton Tagelagi stated, “The establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States of America is significant. We are hopeful that this official step in our partnership, will provide great opportunities. This achievement is reflective of our nation growth as a country, noting that next year we look to celebrating 50 years of Self Government."
The Government of Niue extends its gratitude to the United States for their commitment to the establishment diplomatic relations and looks forward to a fruitful and enduring partnership that will benefit both nations and contributes to global peace and prosperity.
