Scaly suspect seized in Singleton...
Police have seized a 2.3-metre Boa Constrictor in Singleton following fears that it may have eaten a small dog and attempted to constrict its owner in his sleep.
The snake was seized from a residence on Wentworth Avenue in Singleton today (Tuesday 8 November 2016) after police received reports that the owner was keeping the reptile in his home.
...The Boa Constrictor was deemed by National Parks and Wildlife officers to be a non-native species and will be euthanized at a local veterinary facility due to the danger it poses to native mammals, household pets and the risk of spreading disease.
Investigations are continuing and it is expected the owner will be charged with possess an exotic species without licence.
