This evening, PSL organizers joined a student-led rally on Pitt’s campus to fight back against the attacks on trans rights, in lieu of Cabot Phillips kicking off the transphobic speaker series hosted by Turning Point USA tonight. Despite over 11,100 signatures requesting @pittofficial cancel these events, UPitt has refused.
Riley Gaines, a well-known transphobe, will be speaking on March 27th, at the O-Hara Ballroom on University of Pittsburgh’s campus at an event called, “Sa...ving Women’s Sports." Gaines advocates for the removal of trans women from the competition of sports with cisgender women.
Michael Knowles will be “debating over transness” with Deidre McCloskey on April 18th, 2023, at the O’Hara Ballroom via the organization of Pitt Republicans. Michael Knowles explicitly advocated for the “Eradication of transgenderism” at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
This right-wing language denies the existence of transgender people and further endangers our lives in this capitalist system and its institutions.
