This rack and kit is celebrating it's 20th anniversary! The Gibraltar rack has served me well for 20 years on the road and in the studio (gong drum only in the studio). This rack has lots of special little tricks like replacing t-nuts with normal nuts, a special way to hold clamps together for quicker setup, and everything marked along with the rug to make setup quick...20 minutes for the drums, another 20 for electronics which are either mounted on the drums or off the rack.... I love the Rock Solid customization that Gibraltar hardware provides me.
As for the drums, I played dozens of different kits when selecting this one. The Tama Starclassic Maple had a beautiful smooth and defined sound and all the right features to make them very usable. The Iron Cobra pedals and 1st Chair Throne, and RoadPro Snare Stand round out the the kit and proove why Tama is the strongest name in drums.
