Last night we were called to a marriage proposal that didn't quite go to plan. Want to hear more? Yes, we thought you would. Read on... π
So, here's the deal. Look closely at these photos and you'll see lots of burnt out tea lights. Hundreds of them. These were lit by a chap in his Sheffield flat, as he prepared to pop the question to his girlfriend.
Balloons were up and wine glasses were at the ready. However, after going round the corner to collect his fiancΓ©-to-be, ready ...for the romantic moment, he came back to find the flat on fire and three fire engines on the way! π±
Fortunately this was dealt with quickly by our crews and nobody was injured. The best news? She still said YES! π
However, this could have been worse, and there's a really important fire safety lesson here. Candles are great, but they can be SO dangerous, so please be careful:
π― extinguish them properly when you've done
β don't put them near flammable items, like curtains
π don't leave 100s of tea lights unattended
And that's all, folks. What remains for us to say is all the best to the happy couple - we await our wedding invite! π
