We're sure you all remember Ralphie, the adorable Frenchie with the attitude. He went to a home not quite two weeks ago and while the adopter had the right household dynamic, Ralphie proved to be more than she could handle. Kudos to her though for making the right decision. There were some bad choices made by both, but they parted ways amicably. He took his cd's and she kept his sweatshirt. She now understands that Ralphie IS that good-looking bad boy everyone's mama warns th...em about.
While it is unfortunate that he is back to square one, we're committed to helping him. We were able to finally get in touch with his original owner through alternate channels. He gave us some insight into Ralphie's behavior. After gathering all information available, we decided to reach out to another trainer for Ralphie. We contacted Chris from YourEveryDayK9 and he is willing to take Ralphie into his program: How to Train Your Dragon in Six Weeks.🐉
In all seriousness, Ralphie is enrolled in an intensive 6 week board and train. We're going to give Chris a few weeks to get to know Ralphie and work on his training program. We will begin vetting adoptive homes again immediately. Logistically, it may not be feasible for Ralphie's adopter to live out of the area. We will want the adopter to work with Chris and Ralphie at Chris's facility and then he will be placed into the home immediately following board and train. Follow-ups are included for the adopter.
Those who should not apply:
🐾Believers that all Ralphie needs is love. He will totally exploit that.
🐾Those who think our restrictions of no other animals or no kids do not apply to them. Just no. Ralphie has a bite history. You should not want that for your child- 2 legged or 4 (but possibly 3).
The board and train for Ralphie is $6,000 so we're hoping to raise as much of it as we can. We will update his adoring fans as we are updated by Chris. If you can donate to Ralphie's board and train, please click on the link below. If you're interested in adopting Ralphie, please send a letter of interest and dog experience "resume" (we're totally seriously) and include why you believe your home is the right fit for Ralpie to dragonadoption@niagaraspca.org.
Ralphie's training begins Monday, February 20
Negative comments will be deleted. No one likes that it didn't work out for Ralphie, but he will receive the training he needs.
