On April 17, 2020 Deputy Esquivel was patrolling the area of Southeast 102nd Court Road when he noticed the defendant, William Ames’ truck parked at one of the homes. Deputy Esquivel knew of Ames’ warrants for Grand Theft Auto and Resisting Arrest and requested K-9 Cpl. Donahue and his partner K-9 Tipster respond to the location. When Ames saw the deputies he fled the home on foot and K-9 Cpl. Donahue and K-9 Tipster began a track of Ames, who was successfully located by K-9 Tipster.
Ames told Deputy Batts that he thought due to the Coronavirus, that law enforcement wasn’t looking for wanted individuals. Ames was transported to the Gold Star Hotel.
