POSEIDON XSTREAM HERITAGE
We at Poseidon are focusing on the diving experience instead of the making of diving equipment. One of the toughest challenges is to d...eal with cold water diving.
US Navy do test diving equipment and approve it for cold water diving. -2°C/27°F and down to 60m/200ft. Back in 1996 our regulator Jetstream (Odin in the US) passed the test at US Navy. This test has only approved two regulators in the market. We used to be the only brand on that list, but after some ***************** there is now two regulators on the list. Since Jetstream and Xstream share the same internal parts, so the Xstream is the approved regulator on the list.
US Navy won´t tell anybody what they are testing and how they perform the tests. This means that there is no construction specification. You make your regulator, hope for US Navy to even consider trying it. Then after testing, it is either an approval coming or a non-approval.
Quite recently US Navy flew down to Antartica to cold water test every little dive gear they could find. During these tests, they stopped testing equipment because of major failures. They eventually only dived with the Poseidon Xstream. The Xstream had a failure rate of 2%. The second best brand had a failure rate of 20%.
So it´s one thing to say that you have a cold water regulator and it´s another thing to supply a product that delivers time after time, year after year. Keep them serviced and you can even dive in Antartica.
Here you can read the most recent report of approved Diving Equipment, from Jan 2017.
