Walking throughout the lanes and alleyways of Melbourne’s vibrant music scene, you may have heard Scotty Candlish’s powerful voice laden with tales of love , loss and self repatriation echoing through the city he calls home.
With an honest and vulnerable penchant for storytelling and a knack of writing catchy melodies, Scotty Candlish has been refining his sound throughout dive bars and wine bars for the past 4 years, and is set to release his debut EP to the world in 2015 w...ith his dynamite band behind him.
Deeply rooted in his Celtic heritage, Candlish’s songwriting reflects his coming of age to the world around him. Drawing upon his love for alternative rock icons such as Brandon Boyd and the versatility of the likes of Daniel Johns, Candlish embodies a plethora of peripheral genres, as splashes of jazz and blues dart from the canvas that is his spin on the alternative rock and folk sounds.
After launching his debut single, Moving On to a milestone crowd in September 2014 at the Evelyn Hotel, Scotty Candlish is gearing up to launch his debut EP to the world in 2015. A progression of the sounds currently explored by Candlish’s musicianship, the release will see Scotty branching into experimental territory and breaking new ground for himself.
One of Melbourne’s mainstays, Candlish is set to turn heads and tweak ears, so make sure you keep a lookout for the songsmith pouring his heart out into old Melbourne town in 2015.
