#prouddaughtermoment when you're at your parents house and notice all of the books they've bought themselves, the pantry is almost 100% gluten free, organic, real foods, they're now using coconut and avocado oils to cook with, processed iodized salt is replaced with himalayan pink salt, meats are grassfed, eggs are from the farm down the street, and Mom is now starting to learn about the benefits of essential oils. When I first changed my diet and started learning how to heal... my body, my parents were supportive and understanding but not exactly sold on the thought that it could help them too. A few years and a lot of encouragement later, they now not only listen and apply everything I have learned and shared with them, but they are also doing their own research and truly understanding that they can influence their health- living in a state of pain, poor functioning, and chronic disease isn't what "getting older" is supposed to look like. Working a job that doesn't allow you any time to sit down and eat (rest and digest) while also having to hit a high number of macros as an athlete is challenging! I've been trying my best to solve this problem myself but after sitting down with my naturopathic doctor we decided to try smoothies for my two mid-day meals... getting more nutrient dense carbs from the berries, juiced greens, unsweetened almond milk, and clean (grassfed, undenatured, unsweetened) whey protein powder. The new challenge is finding a bigger Mason jar! This is only 2/3 of it!! #paleo #primaleats #eatrealfood #eattogrow #eattoheal #organic #glutenfree @northamptonnaturopathic

Every year for thanksgiving my beautiful grandmother makes a loaf of her infamous pumpkin bread for everyone in the family. This is one treat that I dreaded missing out on and spent countless hours in the kitchen converting the recipe to a Paleo-friendly one and making it taste like the original!!
