Im only giving 4 stars,Because i got barred when i was 17 for nothing,a fella trew a poll ball threw the window after been asked to leave!! And i was outside se...en who did it,cant say I knew him...That night i was having a good time,Closing time sparked a bit of name calling over no more pool,when asked to leave when my pint was gone..I agreed No hassle.Them outside some Hooligan from Newpark thew a pool ball or 2 and smashed the windows and ran!!! It be nice to get back in there Indeed!!! See More

I really liked it very my style ! Nice relaxed chilled out vibe, friendly staff and great drinks. Brilliant band the barflies were on and great set up for them ...� We were very lucky they were doing a Bob Dylan tribute the night we were there - which is right up my street �They were very talented and we had a great time... Loved the posters, decor of the bar too didn't get a chance to venture upstairs but seemed cool. Defo worth a visit and would go back when in Kilkenny � See More

John Breen I love you.. best bar in town, friendly staff and Rhyno is very good looking, ask for after hour rates with him excellent price, ray is too expensive. Great atmosphere, great pints👌

A beautiful old style pub found near the bottom of parliament street in Kilkenny, has a large pool table and lovely upstairs smoking area. Also host to the friendliest staff in the county.

I was lucky enough to get to Ireland on a Pub and Folklore Tour about two weeks ago. That being said, we visited a lot of pubs and John Breen's Pumphouse was hands down the best! It get's FIVE 5 stars!!!
I'd give anything right now to have Mr. Breen pour me a good cold mug of Smithwick's!

I loved the place... was there Friday on my hen, 1st pub we went to in Kilkenny...loved it. Staff are lovely. The place was spotless and we had the best craic there...will 100% be back...

My wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary touring Southern Ireland, and were fortunate enough to have lunch and then spend the evening at the Pumpho...use. Hands Down Best Pub and Friendliest Staff in all of Ireland! Thanks to our new Friends at the Pumphouse for a memorable trip. Would wholeheartedly recommend The Pumphouse.
