Thank a police officer on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day May 15th, 2017

This is a day to show the men and women in blue how much we value them, their service and protection of our communities.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 designating May 15 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. The law was amended by the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, Public Law 103-322, s...igned by President Bill Clinton, directing that the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff on all government buildings on May 15 each year. While the actual dates change from year to year, National Police Week is always the calendar week, beginning on Sunday, which includes May 15.

From MCSO District 6 Captain Dave Munley: "Deputies Rodney Oaks and Walter Douglas responded to a call of an injured person yesterday evening in Queen Creek. Th...ankfully, the young person had only minor injuries and will be fine. Deputy Oaks and Deputy Douglas recognized the individual was now in need of a new bicycle and bicycle helmet. They took the person to Wal-Mart and, using their own money, purchased a bike and helmet before taking the person home. Through it all, it is stories like these that reaffirm and remind me why I'm the proudest police captain in the country!"

Thank you to Deputy Oaks and Deputy Douglas for your act of kindness. We are proud and grateful to have you serve our Queen Creek residents!

Congratulations to the Graduates of the first MCSO Citizens Academy convened since Sheriff Penzone took office. Community leaders joined with MCSO Leadership s...taff to learn how the department works. Classes took place on four Saturdays in April and May. MCSO’s Enforcement and Custody Bureaus delivered presentations covering every aspect of operations. The very knowledgeable MCSO team offered detailed explanations of how they keep the community safe and manage one of the largest jail systems in the country. Thanks to the participants and to the MCSO professionals who showed their passion for service and their work. #MCSORising #oneMCSO
