Eric Maskin, Nobel prize in Economics, participated in the second Green Economy Summit, held in the Argentine city of Cordoba on 5 and 6 October with the paper “How to reduce greenhouse gas emissions: an application of the theory of auctions”, where he exposed the application of auction theory in the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition will open the Interacademic Course with an event where their members Montse Folch and Josep Bujan will deliver the lectures “Els falsos mites dels aliments” (The false myths of food) and “Un gastroviatge per l’enopaisatge” (A gastronomic trip for wine landscape), respectively.

THE ROBOT THAT BELIEVES IN GOD
Josep Ignasi Saranyana presented last October 10 with the writer Arturo San Agustín the last novel of this renowned author, “El robot que cree en Dios” (The robot that believes in God), in which San Agustín tells how a future Pope, Innocent XIV, faces the existence of a robot that inexplicably crosses.

THE ACADEMIES, FOR THE DEMOCRATIC LEGALITY
The Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) translates to its academicians, as an Academy associated with the Institute of Spain, the declaration of its Governing Board on the challenge to the legality and coexistence that supposes the independence policy promoted by the Government of Catalonia. The institution that groups the main Spanish scientific Academies considers that “the wrong referendum promoted by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia lacks all legitimacy, since it violates the most elementary requirements of the State of Law”.
ANOTHER CATALONIA IN ANOTHER SPAIN
The IEC) has donated the work “Catalunya i futur” (Catalonia and future) to the Library of the RAED, which contains a series of reflections on the future of Catalonia written by thinkers and researchers from various fields: Josep Amat, Jaume Bertranpetit, Josep Cruanyes, Oriol Homs, Guillem López Casasnovas, Isidor Marí, Damià Pons, Ferran Requejo, Martí Teixidó, Jaume Terradas and Miquel Vilardell, all members of the institution.
