A friend and fellow artisan, Susie Frank, of Waxing Dog Studio, is offering a leather journal workshop at Arts West in Athens next month. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, create a new pocket journal for yourself, stretch your creativity, dabble in binding, learn a bit about leather work, and just plain relax and have some fun!

Louise and I are very pleased to announce that we have just been approved as an official vendor for the State of Ohio. As a result of this, our popular one-of-a...-kind eco-printed silk scarves and some of our other fiber art items will very soon be offered for sale at the Ohio Statehouse Museum Gift Shop. In addition, please stay tuned for a very exciting announcement regarding a special project we will be embarking upon in conjunction with the Statehouse's chief horticulturist!!

The most moral and humble man I have ever known is now gone from this world. But I know I will always hear his voice and wisdom in my mind and that gives me great solace, though my heart is breaking. Love you, Dad, and will miss you for the rest of my life.

Saturday = Athens Art Market Day! Louise and I will be here (The Market on State Street mall) all afternoon with our "wearable art" - eco-printed silk scarves and alpaca fiber scarves, hats, etc. Come on out and see what the buzz is about. One of our eco-printed silk scarves is currently touring through Israel and getting compliments along the way. Louise and I have our handmade goat's milk soap on offer, as well. Just the thing for the February dry skin problems! We have a variety of items
Come on out and schmooze awhile!

As promised, I am posting up some silk eco-printed and medium-printed scarves for sale. First come, first serve! The medium print scarves have a synthetic background dye color, overlaid by eco-printed foliage. If you purchase today (Tuesday, 1-30-18), I will give you free shipping!

Just wanted to let folks know that we've temporarily shut down our online website and store to make some changes and upload new inventory. Should be back up by middle of next week. Sorry for any inconvenience. I may offer some items at the beginning of the week here on the Facebook page, so stay tuned!

The home of friends of ours, Neil and Heather Perin, was destroyed in a house fire on Monday, January 21st, 2018. Although they and their children and animals ...were spared from harm, all of their belongings were destroyed in the blaze. Having been the victims of a similar fire ourselves a little over a year ago, we know all too well what the aftermath of a situation like this feels like firsthand. We are sharing this in hopes that you will do what you can to ease their burden while they re-group and rebuild. Please go to their Gofundme page and do what you can. They are also looking for clothing for themselves and their children as a basic and immediate need, so those of you who are local may be able to offer some assistance in this area, as well.

Monday, January 21, while out of town visiting Great Granny, the Perin's farm house caught fire. Since so many of you following our pages are fans of the arts or are working artists yourselves, I wanted to alert everyone to a marvelous store that will be carrying some of our various handmade items! Please read below...!

Bill Goebel recommended Ohio Art Market.

Looking for some of the best art and artisanal items hand made right here in Ohio? Want to support local artists of various media and support an amazing local b...usiness? Want just that right handmade and unique item to make the day of someone you care about? Or, are you, perhaps, an Ohio artist looking for a premiere and proven outlet in which to offer your art works to the public, where the owner is a working artist herself, and completely understands the needs, wants and aspirations of others creating amazing art pieces?

Well, then, you really need to check out the one, the only Ohio Art Market, located on north State Street in uptown Westerville, Ohio. Owned by a working artist, Wendy Emery. the Ohio Art Market is a wonderland of tasteful, masterful and whimsical artistic pieces of every possible description. This is an amazing collection of the work of over 140 Ohio artisans on display and offered for sale! Tired of being stuck in the rut of buying mass produced items for gift that are, in most cases imported from outside the state or worse still, from overseas sources? A gift of original art makes a statement about the giver that shows the recipient that you cared enough to look for just that special piece that is as unique as they are!

Think outside the box this year, and by all means, stop in and check it out. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Great Big Story

Your blue jeans don't hold a flame to Japanese indigo. The true blue dye makes clothes fire resistant, bacteria resistant, and was once worn under the armor of samurai.

I haven't been posting much of what I'm up to lately. Here are some photos that give some insight into the work I've been busy "cooking" up in our studio! I've expanded from our eco-printed scarves into eco-printing thrift store silk blouse finds! Just love what can be accomplished only using what Mother Nature provides!

Next week, I will be posting up some items for sale, so stay tuned!!

Here are some representative examples of the eco-printing projects that I've been working on during the last 3 months of 2017. Love using the transitional fall colors, as it provides me with a new palette of colors to work with from the summer greens!
