Hi, I'm Congressman Garamendi. Once again, what did Congress do to you this week? I know all of us are paying attention to the Comey testimony that's going on over on the Senate side, but we know that this Administration is just wracked by one scandal after another. Even before it arrived, Trump was mired in one debate scandal, and now we have a real serious, and in fact, I think a constitutional crisis that's facing us. We'll see where all of this goes. We have Mueller doing his FBI investigation. We have Comey, who is fired by Trump, by Trump's own word because of Russia. It's going to be really really serious, but what did Congress do to you today? Well actually, this week Congress rolled back the protections that were in the Dodd-Frank legislation, which was an attempt back in 2010 to straighten out the Wall Street meltdown that occurred in 2008. $11 trillion of your money was lost in that, your home values and your stock values and on and on. So we passed Dodd-Frank. We put in place the consumer protections, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and we also passed a regulation that would require that people that are trying to sell you stocks, annuities, and bonds, that they would act in your best interest as a fiduciary, not in their own where they would be lining their pockets. Well, this week, Congress wiped out all of those protections. They didn't roll back all of Dodd-Frank.They left those pieces in place that would actually help the Wall Street bankers, but for the small community bankers, from mom and pop out there, for the mortgage industry, that was so terrible, they gave them free reign. So, watch out. Be careful. We know that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was wiped out by this legislation that passed the House of Representatives. We know that the control of the fiduciaries was wiped out. And it goes on and on. I don't know what to say except Congress is not acting in your best interests. I know us Democrats, we're doing the best we can to hold the line and continue the protections, but frankly, we don't have the votes to do that. And so, week after week, below the radar screen, bad things are happening to you. Congress has done it to you once again. By rolling back the protections that were put in place in the Dodd-Frank legislation. I'm sure there will be more next week, but we're also going to see a continuation of this question about what Trump has done with Russia, and all of those investigations will continue to take the headlines. But you got to be aware of what's happening below the headlines. See you next week.
