Lovely to have a page to share our enjoyment of the river and canal as it passes through Leicester. I never tire of the changing landscape when paddling on the Soar.

Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital added 3 new photos.

Yesterday the hospital had two very ill otter kits admitted to the hospital. These two little cuties are only around 4 weeks old and should still be the holt. They were found out in the open, alone next to a public foot path where they had been all day, with lots of dog walkers using the foot path. On arrival both kits were very dehydrated and covered in ticks. The smaller one of the pair was so ill on its arrival it required fluids all through the night. Both kits are also suffering from pneumonia and are being treated for this. It is still very touch and go with these two kits at the moment and there not out of the woods yet. The kits are currently being cared for around the clock by one of our hand carers. We will keep you updated on there progress. To help us care for these beautiful creatures text HOGS02 £3 to 70070, or why not buy them a tin of esbilac off our Amazon wish list. If you can't donate then please like and share this post to spread the word of the valuable work we do for all wildlife
Thank you

After last week’s heavy rain, it was good to see the towpath still above water level 😊

There was success for River Soar businesses at the Canal & River Trust's recent East Midlands Waterside Hospitality Awards. The White Horse at Birstall was awarded Best Waterside Pub/Restaurant, with Pillings Boathouse, Quorn a runner up. Kings Lock Tearooms in Aylestone was a runner up in the Best Waterside Cafe category. Well done all!

Great to see this new gate on the towpath south of Kings Lock. So much more user friendly for all! Thanks CRT.
