So last night, Fernando Perdomo and I finished mixing my new album (we hope lol) and it's off to mastering to get ready for public consumption. This is truly one of the most exciting albums I've ever created and I can't wait for you to hear it. The video is done and in the can and we are setting the dates for release~ most likely April for the video and May for the album with an album release concert here in LA as well. This will be a bigger production, as I will be having a live string section for the first time. My hopes is it is not the last So that's the update~ stay tuned right here in coming days, weeks and months... the Wonka Factory smells like chocolate again....

This is me and Mr. Paul Whitehead on the corner of Hollywood and Highland yesterday- we were meeting to sign a contract for his wonderful artwork which will be gracing my new album this spring. I was on a short break at Musicians Institute where I teach music~ this meeting literally lasted 5 minutes tops. Epic! I couldn’t be more excited to feature Paul’s painting on my album cover. He has done some truly iconic album artwork including Genesis Trespass, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot as well as Van der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill, Le Orne and now me! Can’t wait for you to see and hear what is coming~ stay tuned.... PS- I’m also on Instagram & Twitter @robbiegennet should you dare to keep in touch xo!

Hi everyone~ hope you are having a wonderful 2018 so far amidst all the craziness going on in the world. I’m getting ready to release some new music and a wild new video this year and I couldn’t be more excited to share it all with you! I have been working on some secret and marvelous things that I’ll be rolling out over the next few months but I thought I would start with a little warmup just in time for Valentine’s Day. I’m releasing my first album of cover songs~ reimagini...ngs of some classic 80’s hits (and a 70’s one too). I feel you can hear if a song truly holds up by removing it from its original production and in this case, stripping them down to piano and vocal. For a few of these, I changed some chords to fit the mood but most were really interesting in their original form. For instance, who knew “Say Say Say” (that sunny song by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson) was actually so dark at its core? Or that the stalker in “Obsession” sounds even more obsessed when slowed down? Or that a “Cruel Summer” could sound even crueler?

Come Valentine’s Day, you can download or stream the full album wherever music is purveyed~ there are songs for lovers and songs for the broken-hearted, which should cover everyone. Beyond February, look for Spring releases for brand my new album, my next video and my first official Pianarchy releases since the original in 1999. Good things ahead… stay tuned right here on my music page for details! Thank you for listening ~ RG

I had the concept for this video (and the song) long before I made the video~ it was the day that David Bowie died where I finally pulled the trigger and called Andrew Aidman to make this little vampire movie. Today being Bowie's birthday, I'm celebrating his music and reflecting on the impetus he gave me to take my music to the next level. As I put the finishing touches on my new video from my new album, I'm feeling like I'm reaching a new level for my music and art. I can't wait to show it to you. I feel like Willy Wonka ~ and I assure you that me and my Oompa Loompas are hard at work

Just got back from an amazing run down under playing bass with Fuel~ a dream trip to Australia and New Zealand with a great band and crew. This pic is from Coolangatta, cool beach town~ I was also able to do some bodyboarding at Snapper Rocks the morning of the show, quite a treat. Epic day for sure! Now that I'm home, back to work on my album. Got some harmony vocal and string sessions for my record this weekend, exciting stuff! Getting closer to the finish line before Xmas~ 2018 is just around the corner.... stay tuned!

Crazy shot from the Fuel show in Perth- thank you Jessica Vaini for the pic! Having a blast down under- we are in Brisbane tonight, Sydney tomorrow and Melbourne the next day. Come out and rock with us- love to see ya at the shows!

So proud of my good friend (and drummer on my tunes!) Ryan Brown for this awesome coverage in modern drummer. Well deserved! You’ll hear Ryan on my next progpop album, dropping 2018. Stoked!

When he took over the drum chair with Dweezil Zappa more than four years ago, Southern California–based drummer Ryan Brown had to expand his setup in order to accommodate all of the sounds required in the extensive catalog that the guitarist was pulling from, which comprises mostly compositions by...

Had to share this pic from the studio this evening~ the full crew for my new album currently in production at Reseda Ranch. Fernando Perdomo, Kaitlin Wolfberg, Ryan “Bongo” Brown, and me smiling because we are making exceptional musical magic! And yes, Rey Conga Diaz is on one track but couldn't fly out for the crew selfie Ryan killed on drums (and bongos!) and Kaitlin is adding some incredible strings, which is something I've never done with my music before. Had goosebumps and a smile so wide my head almost split in half~ gonna be a great one for 2018! Stay tuned.... xo!
