The Rogers County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Team has been busy the last 12 hours. Many of them participated in the search and rescues efforts of a lost 11 year old girl in Wagoner County. With the coordinated effort of many law enforcement and fire agencies in the area, late last night she was located and reunited with her family. This morning, they are at it again, this time they are on their way to Mayes County to work with various agencies in a ground search for Wesley Stillsmoking from McCloud, OK who was the subject from a Silver Alert in October. The Rogers County Sheriffs Office consists of both full time deputies and many reserves who volunteer their time and resources to help when needed. When they were called out last evening, they left their families, holiday parties, school activities and various other events because of their commitment to serve others. Please join them with your thoughts and prayers for a safe and successful search today.

Major Coy Jenkins is transporting the dog in the earlier post to a local veterinarian in hopes of finding the dog has a microchip and the owner can be easily located. After several attempts, Deputy Robert Norman and Major Jenkins were able to gain the trust of this dog and catch it to try to help it. I’m suspecting the “Nacho Chips” played a role in this event.

Captain Bob Heidlage and Major Travis Yates with the Tulsa Police Department, recently visited the Rogers County Courthouse and provided specialized training to two groups of law enforcement officers from around the State. The instruction focused on methods to use in circumstances involving vehicular pursuits. While Captain Heidlage and Major Yates have taught all types of law enforcement courses, their expertise in issues that concern liability, is widely regarded. Students in their classes are often responsible for supervising and managing other members of their respective agencies. Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton, a former Tulsa Police Officer, is very close friends with the Captain and Major, and enjoyed "catching up with them", during their stay in Claremore.

Rogers County Deputies Mark Bird, Russ Overstreet, and Joel Bell assisted in traffic control during this last weekend's Annual Color Run, which included a Fun Run, a 5K, and a 10K competition. It was all developed by Claremont Elementary School, and involved a bunch of assistance. Teachers will use the proceeds from Saturday's event to support their educational needs for supplies and other items that would normally be difficult to acquire.
