To all those asking about Summer School 2017 — we have decided to take this year off to refocus and recharge. We'll be back next year with a fresh and exciting programme. See you in 2018!

A habitable space disguised as an air vent has won the competition for a £25,000 pop-up rooftop ‘Antepavilion’ at Columbia and Brunswick Wharf in Hackney, north-east London

Proud of the work our tutors from Mailitis architects have completed in China!

Riga-based Mailītis Architects has designed this amphitheatre in a sacred Chinese mountain range with a huge wind tunnel at the centre to host levitation performances by monks.

Our installation Wild Thing (2014) has been featured in «The Hinterland. Cabins, Love Shacks and Other Hide–Outs», published by Gestalten. The cabins may be miniature, but the book is massive!

Architecture students have built a glowing train-inspired pavilion in the grounds of a former factory:

Two weeks of the summer school have passed in an instant. On Friday evening we will proudly present two spatial structures:
- an archive of truth and bluff (tutors: Austris Mailītis, Reiji Kobayashi, Andra Odumāne);
- a transforming bridge (tutors: Niklāvs Paegle, Theodore Molloy, Thomas Randall–Page).

19.00 Final presentations (at Cēsis Old Brewery, in the exhibition hall with works by Paula Zariņa);
20.00 Opening of installations (at Cēsis Old Brewery, near garages and next to the chimney).

Cēsis Old Brewery is located at Lenču iela 9/11.

Instant Summer School is supported by: VIAA, Cēsis Municipality, VKKF, Vides risinājumu institūts & Gundars Skudriņš, Rothoblaas, Sarma & Norde, Ķelmēni, Riga Technical University.
