With a headline like this, how could we have not read this article? And then, to discover an interview with Yackandandah Community Development Company guru Phil Newman within this great story about regional enterprises doing good in their communities - well, that was just the icing on the cake! Have a gander!

Our buddy @denis_ginnivan wanted you to know that, while #saintmondaycafe is closed this weekend, he'll look after all your coffee needs at his house. @helenmcgowan, you knew this, right? You'd better get that kettle boiling and a cake in the oven, Den. Folks, we'll see you Wednesday, when we re-open. Happy weekend! #whenthoseunexpectedvisitorsshowup #weekendatdens #yackandandah #thatswhatfriendsarefor #gonefishin #exploreyackandandah
Every morning starts this way. And maybe it's getting a little competitive... To be fair, James @yacknewsagency has more footpath to sweep. But he also comes with more experience at the end of a broom handle... #broombroom #saintmondaycafe #yackandandah #thelatestcrazesweepingthenation #gettingabitsweptupinitall #canyoutellwelikepuns #tumutbroomfactory
We were super excited to play host to a #totallyrenewableyackandandah event tonight, featuring a great presentation and workshop by Danish community renewables guru Soren Hermansen of #samsø. All part of #yackandandah's bid to be 100% powered by renewable energy by 2022. #totallydoable #saintmondaycafe #energised #peoplepower #exploreyackandandah
We don't usually share news articles here, but this one is super important! Yack is pretty switched on when it comes to reducing its waste, and - most relevantly to this article - reducing the number of disposable coffee cups it uses. But we can, and need to, do more! We don't mind what sort of cup you bring in for your takeaway coffee - a porcelain mug, a plastic KeepCup, a beautiful glass jar, a hand-thrown pottery cup. We've seen it all, and we LOVE seeing your cups, of all shapes and sizes, coming in for takeaways! The important thing is that you BRING IT IN! And if you forget it, borrow one of ours! Yack, we can work together to ditch disposable cups for good! (For REAL good!)
Why is it that it's always the peaches at the top of the tree that look the best? Amazingly, these peaches avoided the attentions of the El Dorado bird population, allowing us to sneak enough away to complete the delicious melon sorbet and wild peach special entirely with organic, or handmade ingredients! Thankfully no cars came by, and the illusion of grace was maintained. #yackandandah #eldorado #wildfood #saintmondaycafe #gonescrumping #idleeatcreategather #wandervictoria #peaches #smilingwhilemybackisbreaking
We've got a lovely fresh little special for you today - a cantaloupe and mint sorbet (made with #organic and #biodynamic rockmelon from @greenwood.n.groganproduce and @radgrowers), with wild peaches (scrumped from Eldorado), sweet biodynamic cucumber pickles and handmade #locheilanfarmhousecheese fetta. It's summer on a plate! #saintmondaycafe #exploreyackandandah #seasonalfood #summer #thismelonrocks #yackandandah #exploreindigo #visithighcountry #idleeatcreategather #seehighcountry
Although it's a week away, we wanted to give you all a heads up. Saint Monday will be closed Saturday March 4 and Sunday March 5, whilst we all take a short break. #saintmondaycafe #exploreindigo #visithighcountry #exploreyackandandah #gonefishing
Saint Monday a partagé la vidéo de Flow Mountain Bike.
Recently, the gents from Flow mountain bike magazine were in town to film this beautiful footage of the #yacktracks mtb trails. We managed a sneaky cameo in it as well. If you're thinking about riding the trails, make sure you get in and do it soon! With films like this being made, the masses will be upon us!

Ride High Country - Yackandandah. Forget the outside world, spin your legs, and smile. There's over 50km of classic singletrack to explore in this absolute gem ...of a town, all brilliantly mapped, so you can just rock up and ride. The Yack Tracks are a fantastic addition to North-East Victoria's booming scene, and the perfect place to have a relaxed day on the bike. For more info, make sure you check out http://www.ridehighcountry.com.au
Afficher la suiteMatt has been prepping today's special 'neighbourhood juice'. Watermelon, cucumber, lime and mint, all from the gardens of locals, and traded for coffee. There are only a few of these babies today, and we have no room on the specials board, so be sure to offer the secrect handshake, make a clandestine facial expression, ask for the off-menu special, and enjoy a fresh glass of Yackandandah.
Thanks to all the wonderful folk who came along to our first #nightcafe last night - it was great to feel all that energy packed into our little space, and to have #theyearlings and #luciethorne bring us their amazing music! And big thanks @salkimberandtherollinwheel for being such a terrific organiser - you're one clever lady!! #saintmondaycafe #yackandandah #exploreindigo #exploreyackandandah #livemusic #folkmusic #packedhouse
We have the best newsagent in Victoria. Our favourite magazine, #pipmagazine, has just come out, and he ran it in and surprised us with it this morning!! Thanks James, @yacknewsagency! (Come in and have a read over a coffee!) #saintmondaycafe #yackandandah #exploreyackandandah #permacoffee
Extreme blackberry picking in the #Stanley forest - in trying to avoid an open flesh wound from the thorns, you end up almost falling down an old mine shaft. Worth it, though! Blackberry curd here we come! #saintmondaycafe #yackandandah #exploreyackandandah #lookawaymum #keeptriplezeroonspeeddial #scrumping #berrypicking #localproduce #foraging #wildfood
We're busily preparing for our first #nightcafe event this Wednesday - an intimate feast featuring ethically grown and local produce, followed by live music by #luciethorne and #theyearlings. And to accompany it all, a selection of wine handpicked and made in #rutherglen by our friends Rowly and Sally @scionvineyard, as well as #biodynamic wine from #pennyweightwinery in Beechworth. You'll be pleased to know we did the hard yards at both cellar doors today, to ensure we found the perfect wines. A tough job, but someone's gotta do it. (There is still a handful of tickets for dinner left - book online by following the link on our Facebook page.)
Usually we have loaves of our handmade #sourdough bread available for sale, but we're going to have to disappoint you tomorrow. Why? Because every last one of them is being served up as sandwiches to the 200-odd people descending upon the #totallyrenewableyackandandah #minigrid info sessions at 11am and 7pm. Are you coming to to the public hall to find out about the next step in #yackandandah being powered 100% by renewables? (And maybe a little bit sandwich-powered, too...?) You should be!
