We are coming together as friends to pay tribute to a true legend and pioneer of caving - Dale Green - caving for 60 years.

This is open to everyone. If you don't know him, you should come learn about him. We'll enjoy dinner and drinks as we celebrate the life of our friend and mentor.

We'll have a presentation, music, stories, and Dale's caving gear on display.

...

Please keep in mind that this is a restaurant. You'll need to cover your own bill.

Great turnout at our Inauguration/Rescue Debrief. Thanks to all those that attended. Special thanks to Joe Vasko. And congrats on becoming the new Vice Chair.

"Realistically, these guys didn't have any climbing experience," Uintah County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Brian Fletcher said. "These guys weren't prepared. They just saw an adventure and decided to try it."

Deep Look • PBS added a new episode.

Bats have a brilliant way to find prey in the dark: echolocation. But to many of the moths they eat, that natural sonar is as loud as a jet engine. So some bats have hit on a sneakier, scrappier way to hunt.

We will be discussing the LBCC Rescue. Every rescue is an opportunity to learn... What went right, what could have been better, lessons learned.

AND... It's time for the Salt Lake Grotto to inaugurate it's new officer, and re-swear in the old. Join us - with your caving helmet - for our traditional swearing in ceremony.

Forty-one students from West High and seven students from Layton High were recommended to receive rabies vaccines Thursday after bats infested both schools during the previous week, according to Davis School District spokesperson Chris Williams and the Salt Lake County Health Department.

Looks like we might actually have a good location for Dale's tribute. What we are planning requires a venue similar to a reception hall, but that would cost a great deal of money and have lots of restrictions. The grotto wouldn't be able to afford to rent the location and do the other things we want to do for this tribute. Finding the right location has taken time, but we think we have a venue being offered at a great price with very little restrictions. The location is a bit ...of a drive, but we are aiming for a Saturday in later October - to keep it away from conflicting with warm weather outdoor events.

We don't want to be forced to compromise this event to be any less than it is worthy. There is no rush with this, and we need to do this right. We want to have it catered, beer on tap, live music in background, and the other things that come with tributes.

More details will be coming as this is finally getting some traction.
