During a rousing but friendly political discussion/debate at Thanksgiving, the idea of a "Top 3 Primary" was floated. What would you see being the pros and cons of such an election system?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

"The Superman Idea

"The claims of these organizers of humanity raise another question which I have often asked them and which, so far as I know, they have never... answered: If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind? The organizers maintain that society, when left undirected, rushes headlong to its inevitable destruction because the instincts of the people are so perverse. The legislators claim to stop this suicidal course and to give it a saner direction. Apparently, then, the legislators and the organizers have received from Heaven an intelligence and virtue that place them beyond and above mankind; if so, let them show their titles to this superiority.

"They would be the shepherds over us, their sheep. Certainly such an arrangement presupposes that they are naturally superior to the rest of us. And certainly we are fully justified in demanding from the legislators and organizers proof of this natural superiority."

~ Frédéric Bastiat, "The Law" (1850)

If you put up any signs please take them down and hold onto them, we will gather the signs up over the next few weeks. As you may know, Washington State requires that we remove them by This Friday!

Dear Friends,

I think it's clear now that the result of the election wasn't what we were hoping and fighting for. That being said what an incredible experience this has been; I don't regret a minute of the fight we put up. With few resources, grim determination, and a loyal team, we put up a monumental effort. I will always be grateful beyond words for the support each of you gave to my campaign. The help you gave by waving signs in the wind and rain, knocking on doors in ...everything from sunshine to pouring rain, and giving generous financial support is not something I will ever forget. From the bottom of my heart, and to each of you: THANK YOU! As I look at the numbers, I think that we did really well. We drove over 1000 votes in extra turnout. This validates the our message and dedication to principles, which is pretty incredible for a run by a first time candidate.

Finally, several people have already mentioned 2014 to me, but for now, I'm going to take some time to slow down and enjoy life. I need to recharge if I’m going to even think about doing this again in 2014.

Well, we're almost there! I want to take a moment to thank all the incredible supporters that invested so much time, energy, and funds to fuel my campaign. Come tomorrow, win or lose, I'll be forever grateful for and never forget your support, kindness, and generosity. Let's expect some good news tomorrow!

Here's some little known State history trivia:
In 1933, the Washington State Supreme Court struck down a graduated income tax by ruling that because income was property, it violated the uniformity clause of the 14th Amendment. The case was Culliton vs. Chase. Makes one wonder what that ruling be if the 5th Amendment was considered as well . . . " nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation" Interesting to think about.
