This place is a piece of heaven on earth. Positive energy, amazing food both raw food and a regular menu with dozens of high quality dishes for any pallete!!!!

The grounds are immaculate. The jungl...e is raw and the sounds of the jungle are real.... Beach is perfect with easy access to 2 other beaches by foot. The days are lazy - 3 times a day yoga and other mind cleaning and excersise sessions daily...

Everyone I met extended the their stay including me... Came for 10 stayed for like 15 days... One of a kind place with great energy

One of the most special places Ive stayed. The menu is the best Ive ever seen. I don't usually go the the same place twice but for this place I would make an exception.

The spot is really nice but is not interesting for family at all !!!
The Boss gently suggest to leave if the kids talk to loud, then we g...et a new bungalow at the Beam ressort just 5min walk. See More

Stayed there for 9 days. It's not easy to access and the place is quite remote from everything. The room are very basic but the staffs are super nice, joyful and helpful. The dogs and cats are very... friendly for the animal lover. Food at restaurant is always good, massage and meditation workshop were great. There just something special about this place! See More

Just got back from The Sanctuary. This place was so magical that my heart is bursting with joy when I think about it. The people were friendly, I got to know Min Min and his colleagues who were as gre...at as advertised and I am so thankful for that. The food was delicious, the Bali body scrub that I received was highly appreciated, the atmosphere was pure and relaxing, it made me think about coming back next year with my whole family. I lived with a lizard in my room, got used to it and said even goodbye to it. It is an amazing place with raw and authentic emotions, raw and natural food, wild surroundings and even wilder showers. I felt insecure at times, but at the same time so peaceful. Keep up the good work and always respect the people and the nature around. See More

I must say I have very mixed feelings about this place. There were elements I loved and elements I really disliked. Ultimately I thought to myself I would probably not come again. Mainly for these rea...sons:
Negatives:
- getting away from there: I had THE most horrible car journey of my life with the taxi driver who serves guests from the hotel who cannot use the boat if the waves are too high. Basically he confirmed to take us at a set time for a set price knowing we needed to catch the ferry. First he made us wait a long time because he had to finish his round of cards first - didnt matter that we needed to catch a ferry... Suddenly he increased the price by double, threatened to throw us out of the car, threatened to just not drive us to the ferry if we wouldn't pay the price, of course no seat belts, and there wasn't a road but only holes and mud in the jungle to drive through. He enjoyed watching us obviously fearing for our lives while in that car and we were under the impression that we intentionally made us feel horrible while speeding and driving very unsafely. That to me was the main reason that made me decide to never come back to this place. The hotel is doing nothing to help, they didn't help to talk to the driver and they have no organized process of how guests can access their property.
- second reason: the hotel is poorly managed. We had booked the 3 day Yoga package and were told to book all our classes and sessions upon arrival. When we checked in we wanted to book one of our included healing ceremonies. While there were plenty of options listed on the website about 95% of the healers were not available at all during the 3 days we were there so we had only 1 option of treatment out of possibly 30-40 that were listed on the website. We didn't get to do what we would have chosen and had been looking forward to. It was very difficult to fit all the different sessions into the 3 days if there is hardly any availability.
- 3rd reason: cleanliness and general condition of rooms: while the accommodation is surrounded by nature and it can be expected to see some insects, lizards, ants or the like, the rooms should have been properly cleaned before we arrived. There were stains on the linen and bed, the bathroom was not clean, the furniture were old and very basic. For the same price we could have stayed at a 4 or 5 star hotel, but instead booked one of the deluxe rooms and the standard was like at a hostel. The locks on the door could easily be broken into. Difficult if you carry valuables.
-4th reason: service. The staff was very slow eg to bring food, they didn't come to pick up our bags at the designated time, generally not as customer oriented as one would hope. also the hotel takes cash only but there is no ATM on site, everything is a lot more expensive than you would expect in Thailand, but once you're there you have to chance of getting any money out, as the nearest cash point is at the ferry in Haad Rin, so bring plenty of cash especially for unforeseen occasions like the taxi or boat drivers who suddenly force you to pay double or triple the price.

On the other side there were also very positive elements or my stay there. These were:
- I loved the healthy food options, had amazing smoothies eg a matcha mango smoothie, acai bowls, a delicious vegan chocolate cake (probably one of the best I ever had), really nice food (if you choose the Thai options or vegan options)
- 2nd the place is like in the movie "The Beach", nestled in a bay on an island. You normally get to the place in a tiny little boat after getting off the main ferry. this definitely creates a special atmosphere and you are far away from everything. The rooms and Yoga halls are all embedded in nature. A lot of guests are free spirits. Many hippies also. generally a very friendly vibe.
-3rd: the actual Yoga and meditation sessions were quite nice, all the teachers were great.
I liked their way of explaining what Yoga is and the poses they showed us. Definitely worth dropping in. Also the classes take place in an open room on top of a hill in the middle of the jungle which adds to the feel.

It's always what you make of it and I definitely enjoyed elements of my stay, but also was disgusted and terrified by others.

I just came back from a week at a retreat at the sanctuary and I cannot recommend it highly enough. A little tricky to get to, but that's part of the charm. The food was fantastic, the staff amazing, ...welcoming and warm. Don't be surprised at the resort's kittens coming to visit, and make sure to give the pups (fudge, wrinkles, Leo and one other whose name escapes me... starts with an s) snuggles too. See More

My spiritual home .. this idylic bay in KonPhangan, its community and the beauty that is the Sanctuary. A perfect place to reset, relax and of course detox if that's your thing. The sanctuary staff ar...e something else, just the best. Treat them with love kindness and respect and you will receive it back x 1000 with a great service. Even when they are super busy they are happy to help you as much as they can.

The restaurant menu is huge and so unique with a range of many healthy and tasty dishes, juices and smoothies plus a great raw selection including raw cakes!

The detox can be an amazing way to cleanse and rid the body of toxins and feel full of energy and its not for you then you can retox with yummy cocktails at the bar. A perfect mix of yin and yang.

The Pilates, Yoga and Yin classes set in the jungle are just an unbelievably great mix of hatha, vinyasa, yin and strengthening for all levels with awesome teachers who are all really friendly. The tea temple offers you everything you need from regular sessions or even workshops in Thai bodywork massage, chi nei tsang, Accupunture and lots more with advice and help available from incredible healers.

Enjoy this beautiful place, the jungle, nature, beach, wellness and the magical vibe here.

We booked a house on the grounds managed by the staff of the Sanctuary for 3 weeks in April.
We had such an appalling experience we left after 9 days
Repeated attempts to rectify issues with the hous...e , its cleanliness , lack of water pressure or no running water at all & most days we had no hot water , were all basically ignored
The house was infested with ants & spiders , wasps nests & a number of stray cats were also unwelcome visitors, as were the bats .
The daily battle to ensure the cleaning staff left toilet paper & towels was an annoyance, and in general the level of cleaning was poor .
And we asked on 4 different occasions for the burnt out light bulbs to be replaced, as come nightfall , we were basically in complete darkness!
We also had a few instances where our personal belongings were stolen .
All of these issues were reported to the site manager , who's attitude was dismissive .
The property was not at all as advertised as for what it was , very expensive.
After leaving & moving to a hotel in neighbouring Haad Yuan , I did have the opportunity to speak with the manager , who had been unaware of our troubles & did offer a night or 2 accomodation for free if we ever returned, which I declined .
The whole experience was terribly disappointing , considering the reputation the resort has .

It truly IS a sanctuary. Book more nights than initially believed to be enough, to get fully geared down.

Like coming home. I arrived at night and was enchanted by this place- it brims with life and is also a nurturing sanctuary. Reminds me of an Ewok village- which has always been a dream to visit. The p...eople, the food, the events are fantastic. Detox worked wonders although it was challenging. The mattresses could be improved across this whole side of the island though. See More
