- "uh, check my flow, uh..."
i was raised by a single mother who told me that i could be anything i wanted to be... including a radio DJ, something i began focusing on from the age of 8 years old.
i started my career at 15 working as a DJ on the air at an AM radio station on Cannery Row in Monterey, CA. i had more passion than skill, but with a lot of hard work and determination, i landed an amazing opportunity just six years later in Los Angeles, CA at KTWV - The Wave, working with radio personalities that i had admired, including Keri Tombazian, China Smith and Talaya.
my love for good music grew and my association with jazz flourished... after nearly a decade in Southern California, i longed to return to my home base in the Monterey Bay area, and in the early 1990's and i was invited to program several contemporary jazz radio stations... in addition to guesting on KKSF in San Francisco and forging a new relationship with KPIG in Santa Cruz.
KPIG was pivotal in my development as a radio personality, entrepreneur and human being... i found the emotional support i needed to start up a concert production company and to explore my interests in pioneering Internet Broadcasting.
around this time i teamed up with one of the Monterey Bay area's most talented graphic artists who also happened to be a musician. Donna Phillips and I launched the very successful Sandy Shore Productions and produced hundreds of live events in the Monterey Bay area including concerts with Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Kenny Loggins, Dave Koz, Fourplay, Bobby Caldwell, Keiko Matsui, Chris Botti, Jesse Cook, Spyro Gyra, Acoustic Alchemy, Tower of Power and many more.
all the while i began investing my time and energy into Internet Radio... imagining the future of Global Radio and how we could create a Global Community of listeners, artists and industry professionals all over the world.
the journey has just begun in many ways... thanks for finding me here on Facebook, it's one of my favorite outlets for expression and connection and proof positive that my mom was right, i can be anything i want to be... so can you!
