Sentinels of the swamp

A cold 35 degree morning, kayaking in the dark to catch the morning mist , standing in hip deep freezing water, having my boots fail me, feeling the water entering the boots and soak my waders, toes going numb, sensation of something slithering around me, finding it near impossible to get back into the kayak without tipping it over with the now exceptionally heavy boots and waders... oh yes there was a lot of drama that morning. Both in the scene before me, all around me and within me.
