I met Simon Fisher, Dr. Lior Sasson, and Dr. Sion Houri on a medical mission trip in Lanzhou, China, in 2003. I vowed I would see them again one day. I recently spent three months in Israel volunte...ering for Save A Child's Heart.

I lived in the Children's Home, so I spent a lot of time with the children and mothers. I witnessed two different groups of children and mothers (from Tanzania and Zanzibar) go through the entire process--from their arrival in Israel, through their surgery and recovery, to the day they returned home.

The mothers and children from Tanzania and Zanzibar and I became like family. I heard their stories, I saw their tears, and I know SACH was their ONLY hope for survival. This is true with every child who undergoes surgery in Israel, because few developing countries have the facilities or trained pediatric cardiac surgical teams to perform even the most basic cardiac surgeries. Without surgery, the children will not live a full life.

There are no words, pictures, or videos to truly describe how Save A Child's Heart changes lives. It goes deeper than life-saving surgeries (which is amazing in and of itself!!). SACH is a role model for loving and caring for others. They do not discriminate on any basis; including race, religion, or country. They welcome and care for everyone in the same, compassionate manner. SACH unites people from all over the world. It helps people to focus on similarities rather than differences. This explains why so many people from all over the world say they are part of the "SACH world-wide family." It's more than a statement, it's absolutely true. Anyone who spends time with this organization knows the magnitude of SACH's impact and knows how it connects individuals at a deeper level with people from all over the world. They come to understand that Save A Child's Heart is a safe, loving refuge in the Middle East.

I am beyond grateful to be part of the world-wide family. 😊 Please consider becoming involved. We'd love to have you join us!

Based on her enthusiasm and the incredible results from this program, my daughter has volunteered twice for a few weeks each as house-sta...ff and is amazed by the dedication and skill of the staff, and the vital work they do for the children. It all starts with us to do our part and help.A million drops of rain can cause a tidal wave.Count me in as one drop to make a difference

"Health and defense are the backbone of our societies, and together they offer our communities security on a national, regional and global level" said Simon Fisher (executive director of Save a Child's Heart Israel) at the meeting between Avigdor Liberman - אביגדור ליברמן (Israeli's Minister of Defense) and Ummy Mwalimu (Tanzanian Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children) today at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, Muhimbili (JKCI).

Avigdor is now in Tanzania, learning all about the work that Save a Child's Heart does to save Tanzanian lives, on the ground and back in Israel. He even met with past patients and future patients that will be coming to Israel for heart surgery!

Together with the Professor Mohamed Janabi (the director of JKCI), the group met the Tanzanian medical team that was trained in Israel at Wolfson Medical Center which includes Dr. Godwin Godfrey, Tanzania's 1st pediatric cardiac surgeon.
