Just a quick note on scams before the weekend….
Scam reports come in to us frequently. Over the last two weeks we have had calls on a fake Publishers Clearing ...House scam, the old “your son (or other family member) is in jail and you need to pay their fine” scam, and several others. One gentleman reported he was quite surprised when a scam caller told him his wife was in jail, despite the fact that she was sitting in the same room as him at their home.
Now that tax season is in full swing we have also started getting calls on IRS scams. Remember, the IRS or Iowa Department of Revenue will not cold call you and threaten you with a lawsuit or jail for an unpaid tax debt. There is a formal process involved that begins with a letter or bill being mailed to you.
Do not let a scammer scare you into giving up bank account information or wiring money because of a threat related to your taxes (or anything else for that matter). When in doubt check with law enforcement or call legitimate numbers for the IRS or your state’s department of revenue and make an appointment if need be. Have a good weekend, stay safe, and protect your bank accounts!
The Dubuque Fire Department's Drone recently was deployed to assist crews with a tragic fire at a local business. The drone assisted crews in locating hot spots... utilizing it's FLIR camera. The Fire Marshall was also able to use the imagery recorded to help investigate the cause of the fire.
AA’s Schedule Change
Dubuque Travelers may have noticed a temporary flight schedule change beginning May 4th through June 7th with American Airlines. In today’...s air service industry, schedule changes are not uncommon, in fact they occur at least monthly.
The late afternoon arrival and departure has been temporarily removed from DBQ’s schedule. This is not a permanent reduction in service, only a seasonal scheduling issue and the normal schedule will resume on June 7th.
Also, the 3rd Saturday flight will return to the schedule on June 9th.
American has issued this response:
“Due to seasonal demand this summer we had to slightly reduce service. We value our relationship with the Dubuque community and we made sure we kept a schedule that addresses the needs of the Dubuque point of origin. We look forward to our continued relationship and as always will evaluate needs as demand changes.”
