Toured the Royal Flying Doctors Service at Launceston Airport today with Malcolm White, Board Chair & John Kirwan, CEO. A great opportunity to hear about the good work they do and to discuss their funding challenges.

I am delighted to announce the Federal Liberal Government has committed over $610,000 towards the Flinders Island Wharf Shed project as part of the Regional Jobs and Investment Package

The Wharf Shed Project will boost local tourism and expand the Island’s reputation for first class produce and products. It is set to increase economic growth and employment opportunities on the island, through the creation of a world class hospitality and tourist hub.

Tasmania is heading in the right direction and this announcement adds further momentum to our State’s recent economic success.

Labor always says they won't do a deal with the Greens but they always do. That's the record, they're the facts.

Last week in Parliament I spoke of the important decision facing Tasmanians on 3 March – whether to return to the dark old days of a Labor/Green minority Government, when unemployment was at record highs and hospital wards were closed, or to continue under a majority Hodgman Liberal Government with a plan to take Tasmania to the next level and build upon the positive work already achieved.

Fantastic afternoon at the Deloraine Street Car Show where I met some great people and got to see an amazing range of classic and vintage vehicles.

It's obvious... there's so much pride by the owners of these amazing vehicles, along with countless hours and money spent, so I was very pleased to inform the large crowd that a re-elected majority Liberal Government will:

- Double the number of allowable days for SI-Plated Special Interest vehicles to be used per annum from 52 to 104;
- Remove the cost of Motor Tax from Special Interest registered vehicles; and
- Provide VC-Plated veteran and vintage vehicles with an extra 30 days per annum not specific to Club events.

My congratulations to the organisers of the Deloraine Street car show for a fantastic event!

First day back in the state with the full Tasmanian Liberal Senate team and we’ve hit the ground running, joining with the PM Malcolm Turnbull and Premier Will ...Hodgman for the investment announcement at Norske Skog. This exciting project uses forest residue to manufacture an organic solvent. A great project that creates jobs and value. 🌲👩‍🔬👨‍🔧 - with Eric Abetz, Senator David Bushby, Richard Colbeck

Delighted to be in Launceston today with the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Premier Will Hodgman, Senator Jonathon Duniam, Senator Richard Colbeck, Peter Gutwein and Sarah Courtney MP, to be part of a $94.6 million (jointly funded between the State and Federal governments) Tamar River announcement.

The Launceston City Deal provided funding for detailed consideration by the Tamar Estuary Water Management Taskforce, of how to address the issues facing the Tamar River. On the... basis of their findings, 12 projects have now been recommended to be undertaken, including upgrades to the major plumbing works that support the sewerage plants around the City of Launceston. Delivering these recommendations will see a reduction of more than 70% of the sewage load going/currently in the river.

This announcement delivers upon the Liberal Party’s commitment to improve the health of the Tamar River!

A nice way to finish a big day on the campaign trail - with a couple of mates and a beer in the local. At the Foreshore Tavern, Lauderdale tonight.

Fantastic news. Fewer Tasmanians out of work!

NEWS JUST IN: Our unemployment rate is now the second-best of all states at 5.7% - that’s equal with Victoria! This kind of thing doesn’t happen by chance - remember, only a majority Hodgman Liberal government has a plan to build your future.

Today I asked the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Senator Nigel Scullion, to update the Senate on what the Government is doing to assist Indigenous business people across Australia.

Fantastic to join with the Tasmanian State Liberal team this morning for the official launch of their campaign to be re-elected for another four years of majority government. The list of positive policy announcements already made is long and very well thought through, and today they added to that in a big way.

A re-elected Hodgman Liberal Government will boost the Tasmanian health system with an investment of more than $750 million over the next 6 years, which amongst other ...advantages, will allow the engagement of an additional 1300 doctors, nurses and health professionals.

As the Premier noted, this investment, the largest new investment in health in Tasmania’s history, is made possible due to the sound economic management of the Government which has eliminated net debt. This means taxpayers funds can be used to fund the health, education, law and order and other needs of Tasmanians, rather than fund debt and interest payments.
