I am proud to endorse my longtime friend and colleague, Hillary Clinton, in her candidacy for president of the United States. I know that she will keep fighting until the opportunities that seemed like an impossibility to a boy from Cumming, Iowa, can be lived by every child in this country.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are my guests for the 37th Steak Fry. Not only is this my last Steak Fry, it's a crucial election year and we need to rally our troops for progressive Iowa champions on the 2014 ballot. Tickets are now available for this Iowa classic set for Sunday, September 14th. Visit http://www.tomharkin.com/ to purchase yours today!
NEW POLL: The Des Moines Register just released a poll showing 65% of Iowans support raising the minimum wage. 28 million Americans, including 300,000 Iowans, would have more money to spend under my proposal to #RaisetheWage. This is the right thing to do for America's workers and their families and the right thing to do for our economy.
President Obama’s decision not to include chained CPI in this year’s budget is a huge victory for those of us who have fought to protect Social Security from cuts that would hurt our seniors. Earlier this week, The New York Times published an op-ed supporting our efforts to raise the minimum wage. The NYT writes:
"But the results of the wage debate are clear. Decades of research, facts and evidence show that increasing the minimum wage is vital to the economic security of tens of millions of Americans, and would be good for the weak economy."

President Obama put much of the TomPAC agenda -- increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 and combating income inequality -- at the top of the nation's agenda. Now it's up to us to support candidates who embrace this agenda. Help reach our January fundraising goal by midnight -- we're only $2,114 away! Contribute: http://bit.ly/1fhPXMn

I am so happy that 51 other senators joined me to support filibuster reform. Abuse of the filibuster has gotten so extreme that the Senate was virtually unable to do anything -- even fulfill its constitutional duty to advise and consent on the president’s appointments.
This change was long overdue, and I want to express my thanks to Majority Leader Harry Reid for his leadership in getting us across the line. This would not have happened without him.
Will you sign my thank yo...u card today?

We've reached almost 130,000 signers on our petition to Republican leaders urging them to end this GOP shutdown, right now. If you haven't yet, add your name and help stop this senseless, reckless attack on working Iowans and Americans.

At an event today at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, Tom endorsed Bruce Braley in his campaign for U.S. Senate. Tom said, "he is someone from humble roots, who in the time he has been in Congress, has fought for working people and the struggling middle class. Bruce Braley has already proved his skill at fighting for the people of Iowa."
